cine nu vroia sa-l aibe in jurul sau pe Serban,neobositul cautator de frumos si inedit din sumbrul piesaj cultural al unei perioade ce nici nu merita a mai fi amintita.......
am aflat ca tatal lui Mihai lucreaza la ARCOM,asta era o firma de constructii ce lucra in strainatate,si ne-a venit ideea sa-l intrebam si unde da cu mistria;in Anglia,a venit prompt raspunsul.
oooooooooooooooooooo,ce pleasca pe capul nostru.
si asa a luat nastere unul dintre cele cateva canale subversive la adresa orinduirii,canal ce avea sa aduca in tara in rastimpul a aproape doi ani de zile cateva zeci de albume de Jazz si Pop.
unul dintre primele titluri cerute la celebra (desi abia nascuta) companie VIRGIN a fost "JAN CARR'S WITH NUCLEUS - We'll talk about it later".
aveam sa descopar sonoritati ale jazz - rockului de un colorit aparte,un sunet pe care l-am regasit apoi la o alta trupa a genului,tot din Marea Britanie,este vorba de mai celebrii muzicieni de la SOFT MACHINE.

in general efectele pe care o chitara electrica le produce nu sunt exploatate in blues,precum in jazz,de exemplu.

este albumul care m-a facut pe mine sa gandesc altfel.
intamplator ascultat,adus de catre doi globtroteri in traista,m-a pus fata in fata cu un sunet pe care nu-l mai auzisem.
ceva ciudat si in acelasi timp puternic,penetrant,amplu orchestrat.
voci aparte,cele barbatesti foarte mult inclinate catre maretie iar cele feminine altfel decat eram obisnuit sa aud,mai reci si in care se vedea in mod evident ca sunt "lucrate" undeva intr-o scoala de canto.
si cand te gandesti ca astazi cand spui rock german ti se raspunde cu Rammstein.
imi vine sa rad de-a binelea..........

muzicieni de prima mana,au facut ca jazz-ul anilor '70 sa se echilibreze intr-un fel in permanenta disputa europeano-americana care a facut ca acest gen muzical sa se dezvolte oferind creatii ce nu pot trece neobservate.
dintre numeroasele lor albume acesta mi se pare reprezentativ aducand in prim plan jazzrock-ul ca subramura consolidata a genului......

de departe cel mai reusit "Ummagumma" reprezinta pentru mine mult mai mult (de la alegerea
titlului,care poate fi interpretat de fiecare cum doreste,caci in acelasi timp este latineasca denumire a unei specii de fluturi,precum si conceptul de imperechere spus in ceea ce se cheama jargonul unei limbi,pana la grafica copertii) decat productiile mai recente pe care aceasta minunata grupare britanica le-a conceput......
